History books ,especially when well written and documented, are extremely valuable.
They provide a reference point and by comparing recent events to similar events in the past ,a useful conclusion and guidance for the Present can be derived.

Christian Constantinople ,the richest city in the World in 1204 AD was implementing a policy of appeasement, christian compassion, inclusion
